Ascension Day – Morning Prayer in Easter

It’s Ascension Day in the Church Calendar. May 18, 2023. This week we are following the Daily Office lectionary with an episode Monday through Friday. Our general order and lectionary comes from the Book of Common Prayer Daily Office. Singing a song I wrote with the verse melody by John Hughes (CWM RHONDDA, 1907), “Witnesses,” with a prayer of confession. We’ll read Psalm 47 followed by the Gloria Patri. Our Gospel reading is Luke 24:44-53 . We’ll say the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Collect of the Day. We’ll then have a time of prompted prayer. Ascension Day I - Almighty God, whose blessed Son our Savior Jesus Christ ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things: Mercifully give us faith to perceive that, according to his promise, he abides with his Church on earth, even to the end of the ages; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting.
