Ask An Expert: Who is the Underwriter?

  I have heard it all when it comes to Underwriters. Many people on our business have made Underwriters out to be these people that sit in dark rooms, laughing manically while they request random annoying things from borrowers but luckily it is actually not like that all. I thought it would be awesome to pull the curtain back on the Underwriter position, so you can see what their job entails and that they are human like me and you. VanDyk Mortgage superstar and Head Underwriting Manager, Lindsey Kuhnle, was cool enough to join me to talk about what being an Underwriter is all about. She won’t brag but I think she killed it!
