Ask Angelika Season 3 Episode 12 - Donauwörth

In this episode we learned a few things about Donauwörth. As always Steven got to read some German sentences about it and tried to translate them into English. At the confluence of the Danube and Wörnitz rivers lies the Bavarian-Swabian town of Donauwörth. Donauwörth war zunächst eine kleine Inselsiedlung („Wörth“ = altes Wort für Insel) Donauwörth was initially a small island settlement ("Wörth" = old word for island) Donauwörth liegt an der bekannten Ferienroute, der „Romantischen Straße“. Donauwörth is situated on the famous holiday route, the "Romantic Road". Die Romantische Straße verbindet 29 Orte und ist 460 km lang. The Romantic Road connects 29 towns and is 460 km long. Viel Touristen mögen die Romantische Straße, weil sie ihnen Faszination und das Zurückversetzen in alte Zeiten gibt. Many tourists like the Romantic Road because it gives them fascination and takes them back to old times. Donauwörth ist an einige Radfernwege angeschlossen, u.a. an das europäische Fernradwegnetz EuroVelo, das vom Atlantik bis zum Schwarzen Meer verläuft. Donauwörth is connected to a number of long-distance cycle routes, among others the European cycle route network EuroVelo, which runs from the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea. 2016 wurde Donauwörth der Titel Fair-Trade-Stadt verliehen.
