from Ask Angelika · host Angelika Davey

In this episode we learned a few things about Augsburg. As always Steven got to read some German sentences about it and tried to translate them into English. Here are the sentences again: Augsburg ist die drittgrößte Stadt Bayerns. Augsburg is the third largest city in Bavaria. Augsburg is also one of the oldest cities in Germany. Seit 1555 gilt Augsburg als Friedensstadt. Since 1555 Augsburg is regarded as a city of peace. Seit 1650 wird am 8. August das „Hohe Friedensfest“ gefeiert.  Since 1650 the "High Peace Festival" is celebrated on August 8th. This is a public holiday, but only in Augsburg. That’s why Augsburg has the most public holidays in Germany. Since 1948 there has been a famous puppet theatre here: the Augsburger Puppenkiste.
