Dr. Applewhite discusses the reasons why parents drop-out of college and the workforce. These are parents categorized as "non-traditional" adult learners/students that do not fit the stereotype held of the "traditional" college student.Adult students with a learning or mental disability, who are parents, carry the additional responsibility of being a role model for their own children to finish school and learning to advocate for accommodations. Hear a unique insight on working parents with mental illness in light of Miriam Carey's shooting incident last year.
