Aspinall Unit Dams Releasing Peak Flows Into Black Canyon

from KBUT · host KBUT

The Blue Mesa, Morrow Point, and Crystal River dams are discharging their highest flows of the year. The high flow is expected to be at 12,000 cubic feet per second on May 23rd. Large releases in wetter years are an attempt to mimic the natural hydrolograph of the riverway before the dams were built. It also aids in the recovery of endagnered fish downstream.
