Astros Trade Pearson to Royals | Kansas City Royals News

Houston Astros trade struggling pitcher Nate Pearson to the Kansas City Royals in a move aimed at strengthening their bullpen, sending back minor league prospect Max Martin in return. Pearson, a former top prospect with a fastball clocking 98 mph, hasn’t lived up to his early hype despite his arsenal and time with multiple teams. The 29-year-old posted a 3.60 ERA in 16 games for the Astros on a $1.35M deal. In exchange, the Royals get a high-upside arm, while Houston gets a young, promising 22-year-old right-hander with a 2.01 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 40+ innings. This trade underscores the Astros’ ongoing pursuit of the right pitching mix as they continue to reshape their roster.
