Asylum seeker boat intercepted off far north Queensland

A boat carrying approximately twelve asylum seekers, believed to be Chinese nationals, has been intercepted by Australian Border Force and Queensland Police off the coast of Weipa on the Cape York Peninsula in far north Queensland. The people on board have been taken into custody as part of a possible people smuggling operation.
