Hello everyone, it's Mini Music Monday. Here on Ron Prussian's podcast. My name is Lou Barlow. And I'm Adele Barlow.
Coming to you from, I'm coming to you from Greenfield, Massachusetts. I'm in Indianapolis, Indiana. We don't know how to talk to each other on remote, you guys, so just be patient with us. We might interrupt each other a lot more than we typically do.
Mondays, music, mini episode. Oh my gosh, well you guys, remote or not, this is a pretty exciting mini music Monday. It's really exciting. We have a kind of fantastic medley, I mean, is it too much to call it?
I just swatted at the microphone because there was a big fruit fly that went by my face. But can I call it exciting? Is it a medley? I'm excited.
It's a medley. It's a mashup. It's a good one. This one's really special because Adele and I conceived of it while we were on tour together.
Wow, Izzy was in Headphone World listening to Taylor Swift. We were listening to, I think it was our least favorite songs on Spotify, which was really fun. We were listening to one of the most annoying songs that we can listen to. I also want to make it clear that I like songs that I don't like almost as much as the songs that I do like.
I will put that on a t-shirt someday. I was in Louisville playing another show with Clutch and the awesome Red Fang. And when I got there, I hung out with my friend Donnie Bot and I went to Donnie's house because I'd spent a lot of time on the late 90s and made some friends and loved the city, actually. And so I went over to Donnie's house, he showed me his house, and he had a studio in his basement.
Nice. And then he took me back so I could do sound check. And then after sound check, I was like, Donnie, come and get me, bro. I got an idea.
Two, three, four. She says it's cold outside and hands me the ring. She's always worried about things like that. She says it's ongoing and it might as well be my fault.
She only sleeps when it's raining. She screams, her voice says, it's raining. She says, baby. It's three a month, I must be lonely.
She says, baby. I can't help but be scared a bit all the time. The rain's going to wash away, I believe it. I was down at the New Amsterdam.
Staring at this yellow-head girl, Mr. Jones struck some conversation, this black-haired flamencore dancer. She dances while his father plays guitar. She suddenly beautiful.
We all want something beautiful. I wish I was beautiful. Come dance to silence down through the mornling. Shalalalalalalalalalala.
Cut up Maria, she'll meet some of that Spanish dancing. Pan past me and bottle Mr. Jones. Lestan Jones and me.
Tell each other fairytale. She's looking at you, she's looking at me. Smiling at the bright lights, coming through in stereo. When everybody loves you, you can never be lonely.
And that said, what about breakfast at Tiffany? She said, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, we both kind of liked it. And I said, well, that's one thing we've got. At 3 a.m.
Mr. Jones had breakfast at Tiffany's. 3 a.m. Mr.
Jones had breakfast at Tiffany's. 3 a.m. Mr. Jones had breakfast at Tiffany's.
3 a.m. Mr. Jones had breakfast at Tiffany's. I recorded the basic tracks, the guitars, and Donnie said, well, you know, this recording is not going to be complete without one magic element.
And when he said that, in my mind, my first thought was, Vibrouslap. And I try to explain to anybody that the Vibrouslap is the X-Factor. It is the secret ingredient to any, or not any, but a lot of hit songs, including natural one. So I have imputed the Vibrouslap with a lot of magical powers, but I'm thinking, that's not certainly, certainly that's not what Donnie Bot is now referring to.
So then he kind of like reaches behind the pile of something, you know, and he's obscured. And guess what he fucking came up with? Guess what he showed me, try and think like, this is the element. Can you say it?
The Vibrouslap. And I then proceeded. It's just me. Does Vibrouslap make anyone else think about SEX?
I don't know, Vibrouslap. You know what's great about it too? It looks a whole lot like a sex toy. And the funny thing is, I did not, I honestly, God did not think about that until pretty much just now.
I didn't think about it being a sex toy, but boy, it sure does look like one. I don't know, my brain immediately was like dirty. Vibrouslap. Well, not just the name, but the way it looks and people can check it out.
Yeah, check it out on the reel. But boy, pull that Vibrouslap and guess what? I fucking slapped my way. You slapped that shit all over that song.
There's so many Vibrouslap hits. There are so many. Let's see if we can get like, like in the comments, you know, I want you guys to leave your comment for like how many Vibrouslap moments you counted and if it was necessary to have it. Oh, well, then there you go.
It's never enough. It's never enough Vibrouslap. I want to make Donnie a T-shirt that just says more Vibrouslap. No, because cowbell is like the thing.
People are like, Mark Cowbell. Like that's the funny, funny Christopher Warring. Exactly. That's the Vibrouslap, however, boy.
But you're actually more of a Vibrouslap kind of guy. Never enough. That's hot. I like a baby.
Well, and I like your medley mashup. That gets me excited. And goddamn it, you know, it actually makes me, well, I'm not going to say it makes me like those songs. It kind of makes me love those songs.
You know what? It happened during, this is my message to Rob Thomas and also to Adam Darrow. It's who are undoubtedly listening right now. There are two fans in fact.
That's it. Those are the two guys. Undoubtedly. I'm going to do something.
Hi, Rob. Look, you know what? I have a new appreciation for your song 3 AM. I'm going to have to work on the push you around song.
I don't know if I'm down with that one. That one makes me feel uncomfortable. I want to push you around and I will. That one, we can talk about that.
Maybe I can tackle it at a later date. Maybe he'll be a guest. Ryan Gosling actually did a cover of that recently, which is funny too. Ryan Gosling, D-A-turn?
Yes. I'm sorry. Yes. Somehow it's affiliated with the Barbie movie, him, him.
I can't possibly be. I don't know. What? I don't know.
I haven't seen Barbie yet, but I'm going to. Matchbox one is in the air. Mercury might be in retrograde. Yes, this told me Mercury is in retrograde, which perfectly explains my weekend, everyone.
I'm reversing this energy. This is it. With this, by sharing this medley, this sublime magic. It's like a cleansing moment for all of us.
I really did actually start to like me and Mr. Jones and me. Yes. Of course we did.
I was going to do it really sarcastically. I was going to be like, I was going to do some sarcastic, but I was like, you know what? No. No.
I'm not going there. I'm really not. No. No.
The honey, sincerity. Sincerity. Blown sincerity. And then, breakfast at Tiffany's, I was like, that's a fucking, it's a brilliant chorus because you can't get it out of your head at all.
It's true. It's an earworm. It's an earworm, but not only that. The phrasing of it is so odd.
Mm. That, that used to be the thing I thought annoyed me, but now it's something I really appreciate about it. And that said, what about breakfast at Tiffany's? She said, I think I'm rim, liminal, film, and nipper call.
I think we both kind of liked it, and I said, well, that's one thing we've got. Thank you, DPS. Thank you. County crows.
Thank you, Matchbox 20. Thank you, Matchbox 20. Thank you to me for having the sense not to cover the black crows. Yeah, that they needed to just be left out of this one.
I'm not going there. Maybe don't touch the crows. You know the black crows that is. In general, don't touch the crows.
In general, don't touch crows. They're dirty. They don't want you to touch them. Well, I'm here to touch on them.
I am relieved. And I'm praying to the fucking gods that this thing, that this part, this remote podcast actually is recording. And can be fucking uploaded because y'all, we've tried this already. We've been on and off on this all day long.
The failure, so much failure today. So many fails today, but this is it. You know, I'm feeling like it's turning around. If this one actually doesn't go, I will shed a tear, actually, I will.
So the ship better work. I may throw something. No, I shouldn't throw something. Don't, you know, you could punch that pillow on that lovely foreposter bed.
You've got there. I'm actually playing some heavy rock music tonight. I'll get it out in my heavy rock music. Yeah.
I'm playing to a lot of, I'm going to be playing music to a lot, to a sea of black t-shirts tonight, and they will understand. They will understand my aggression. Oh my God. You should just like head bang for them.
Don't head bang too hard because you're all. I don't want you to get hurt. I'm going to Nashville tomorrow and I'm going to go to many museums. So I have to have my neck ready to, to, to swivel to look at it.
To pivot and swivel and see all the art. Look at rare cars and art and hopefully some jealous. I want to be there. Rigs and suits.
I want to see some suits. Goddamn. Yeah. I'm going to hang up now and then just fucking hope that this goddamn conversation has been recorded.
I hope so too. Because I don't want you to cry. I don't want to see it here and here. Oh, you've got some country songs under your belt.
You better write some songs for me, baby. All right. Good night, y'all. Ron Preshins.
And please just, you know, just rewind that song over and over and over and enjoy. So Mondays, music, mini episode. And you know, just rewind that song over and over and over and enjoy. So Mondays, music, mini episode.
