The good news? They already have a very talented roster and the players leaving were not crucial to their “success”.  Austin Hooper and Vic Beasely are the Falcons biggest free agents potentially walking. This isnt much of a shocker. The dirty birds can clear some cap if they release Ty Sambrello, Alex Mack (this one would be a mistake), Devonta Freeman and Keanu Neal. Falcons do have some needs- including filling out their roster at corner, maybe a new runningback (?), potentially some replacement interior o-line, and even a third wide receiver. But their biggest concern? Passrush… unfortunately- without much cap space and a weak passrushing draft class- the Falcons might be better building on strength. Maybe they can use their 2 second rounds, mid first rounder to try and collect some impact players for the 2020 season.The Carolina Panthers on the other hand are looking at a deep rebuilding with Matt Rhule at the helm. Who know who will be their Quarterback going into 2020. Will it be Cam newton? Will it Case Keenum? Finding a fit for Joe Brady and Mat Rhule will be important. The team just traded Trai Turner for Russell Okung. They seem to be in a fire sale of any player they don’t see being here for the long haul. That could even mean trading away Christian McCaffrey. Greg olsen has been released and found a home in Seattle. Panthers have about 24 million in cap space- they will have another 9 million available with their decision to not pick up Dontari Poe’s option. Mike Davis also looks like a potential cap casuaty (3 million). Don’t be shocked to hear Kwann Short being traded (only 3 million of relief). Will they trade up and get Joe Burrow or Tua? Will they trade down and accumulate assets for next year? Both are viable options. Will not be shocked with whatever the Panthers do- all we know is that the Owner, David Tepper, has guaranteed this will be a process.
