ATOOC Fly By: Line Up And Wait

In this Air Traffic Out Of Control Fly By, we have another close call situation for you.  Yesterday, the pilot of a LearJet 60 took off without clearance at Boston Logan Airport as a JetBlue Embraer 190 was preparing to land on an intersecting runway. You will hear in the recording, the controller instructed the LearJet to line up and wait on the runway. For some reason, the pilot ignored the instructions and took off, putting JetBlue flight 206 in danger. Luckily, the JetBlue pilot takes last second evasive action to avoid tragedy.
