ATOOC: Wind Problems at ABIA

from Air Traffic Out Of Control

In this episode, we fly over to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA). Heavy wind gusts caused an Elite Air Challenger 300 series aircraft to violently swerve on takeoff. This resulted in a wing strike and the aircraft exiting the runway, coming to rest on the grass. The tower puts a hold on all other aircraft and closes the airport.
