Tomas Berdych, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Mardy Fish qualified for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals after their competitors, Nicolas Almagro, Janko Tipsarevic and Gilles Simon lost before the third round. Berdych defeated Andy Murray to reach the semifinals in Paris, and Roger Federer won his 800th career ATP match when he beat Juan Monaco 6-3, 7-5. If Federer wins the tournament, he would reclaim his No. 3 ranking from Murray. The WTA announced it set new records in attendance at its year-end Championships, and it saw a significant increase in web traffic during the tournament. Finally, nine of the top 10 players on the WTA tour are from different countries, which sets a new record.
