Atrocities Still Cause Human Suffering Even When They're Ignored by the Media

from Walter Rhein Podcast · host Walter Rhein

If all of your information comes from the legacy media, then you’re woefully misinformed. Unfortunately, there are many people in our society who have been indoctrinated to believe that they are “responsible” citizens as long as they dutifully read the paper or listen to the morning news.A side effect of this conditioning is that people are inclined to think atrocities aren’t happening if they aren’t covered by the legacy media. This state of willful ignorance makes us all enablers of violations against humanity.I live an hour and a half out of Minneapolis. The atrocities that are taking place in that fine city are enough to bring a decent person to tears. There’s a little boy named Liam Ramos who is only five years old. I’ve heard reports that he fell into poor health due to the stress of being held in an ICE detainment center.Liam was ultimately released, but we didn’t dismantle the mechanism of torture. What assurance do we have that other children aren’t being tortured even as you read this?In a society with a healthy media, this would be the singular story of this moment. There should be a massive media blitz designed to activate the people and demand justice for this and every other child. Instead, we get a smattering of mentions in various articles, but no real action. Meanwhile innocent kids who have done nothing wrong continue to suffer.Evil powers are suppressing our pressIt’s time to speak out about the problems that have been lurking beneath the surface for decades. Our press is compromised. This applies to television, radio, newspapers, film, and publishing. We do not have a free press. There are many stories of oppression that are deliberately suppressed.Even twenty years ago, it wasn’t nearly this bad. The power of the press was more evenly distributed. There were still independently owned local papers that would cover the news that rich and entitled people didn’t want anyone to hear. Not anymore. We’ve watched and done nothing as powerful entities have bought up and shut down all the publications they couldn’t control. Now there are only a handful of organizations that control all the stories that come across our screen. For some reason, they don’t want you to hear about the transgressions of government agencies that are causing anguish to innocent children. You need to know what’s happening in the world. That’s the only way to ensure evil doesn’t come knocking on your door.Use your writing skills to become a journalistI’ve wasted a lot of time querying oligarch owned publishers in the hope of making my voice heard. I jumped through their hoops, built up a following, and learned how to write captivating pitches. That hasn’t served me directly since our current gatekeeper media is designed not to let the important stories through. But I have picked up a unique set of skills that have served me in ways I never could have imagined.Lately, I’ve been reaching out to progressive political candidates. Like me, these are the type of people who will be ignored by the same mainstream media that scrambles over itself to publish every irrational and contradictory musing that Joe Rogan has to offer. Our media simply doesn’t allow equal time to scholars, scientists, and humanitarians. That’s where you come in.I routinely send the same pitch to important voices I feel we need to elevate.Hello! My name is Walter Rhein and I run a newsletter with 15,000 subscribers. I have been interviewing Democratic candidates. This is a free interview, I only want to help and give you more of a platform. If you would be interested in chatting with me, I'd be delighted to host you. It’s short and sweet and it gets to the point. Most of these candidates are spending their time driving all over the state talking to people in libraries and churches. The opportunity to reach an additional 15,000 people while they’re in their car on the way to an event is extremely attractive. To date, I’ve interviewed:* Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong* Wisconsin congressional candidate Emily Berge* Wisconsin congressional candidate Laura Benjamin* Illinois congressional candidate Joseph RuzevichA new era of politicsThe problem with our mainstream media is that it’s run by rich people and it only covers the stories that are important to rich people. The working class is out there struggling with their backs against the wall, and morning programs are talking about the best gifts you can buy for under five hundred dollars. The gap is so wide, it feels like the people on television live in a different world. We’ve got to change that. When you interview candidates, you can create clips that you can share to all your social media profiles. The more you activate your community, the more you can get those clips seen and shared. Most important of all, reaching out to candidates allows you to ask them about the issues that most affect the real people in your life. This is why it’s so important to get involved. The whole idea of a representative government is that our politicians are available to us. They can hear our concerns. They need to take action to help alleviate our pain. But when the legacy media fails to cover the stories of our suffering, our politicians are deprived of the information they need to make decisions.People are hurtingPeople at all levels of society need to know that they have a right to have their voices heard. We can no longer afford to stick our heads in the sand and pretend there is no suffering in our society. The story of Liam Ramos proves that suffering is happening that is beyond what parents and children should be expected to endure. At this point, we have to view the legacy media as just another entity of oppression. They appear to be deliberately keeping the general public ignorant, and that makes them enablers of cruelty. But we do have a voice. Whether you have a thousand, ten thousand or a million subscribers, you can be heard. There are good people out there who also find themselves censored by the media. We’re seeing a massive societal shift to independent media. Your friends and neighbors have an innate sense that they’re being lied to. People have a tremendous capacity to recognize truth when they hear it. We’re tired of being indoctrinated. Your community is waiting to be activated.Speak out, hear their pain, reach others. Together we can restore the fourth estate and work to create a society that works for everyone. You all make this newsletter happen! Thanks for your sponsorship!
