Aug 13, 2026: New Canucks hires and signings; A farewell to John McKeachie

It's been a tough year for local sports media, on many fronts, and that continued this week. Blake is joined by guest host Farhan Lalji to walk down memory lane on the careers of two Vancouver media members who were lost this week, inlcuding BC sports Hall of Famer John Mckeachie. The guys share their experiences alongside the legendary sportscaster and talk about what made him so unique and special. They also talk about media in the present as play by play chair remains the same for the Vancouver Canucks going forward. The guys also debrief the recent hires and signings for the team and what it says about the club's intentions this season. The Sheet's Jeff Marek stops by to talk about the Malhotra/Celebrini training alliance last week and what it says about both players. Jeff has a great first hand scouting report on Novotny's readiness for the NHL and where he should be next season, and he also weighs in the Canucks' spending in a rebuild. Then it's BC Lions DC Mike Benevides with a look ahead to the Lions and Stamps tonight in Calgary. Benny gets into the reasons for the slow start this season, and how the leadership in the room has helped keep things in perspective.
