from Jeff Floro's All About Guitar · host LA Talk Radio

Kowabunga!!! Surf's up at All About Guitar!! What is surf music? Where did it start? What is the "surf" sound and how do you get it? We discuss that and more tonight with some of the people that were there during those days of twangy guitars and loads of reverb!! Joining me is Tom Potts, who played with the Chancellors. The Chancellors, by the way, was the group that singer-songwriter Paul Williams started his legendary career! Tom and the Chancellors were the traveling house band for Kasey Kasem and backed singers Jackie DeShannon, Round Robin, Terry Stafford and many more from that period. Also joining me is Matt Quilter, brother of Pat Quilter, of Quilter Amps. Matt was the guitarist for the Reventlos. He also teaches guitar at the prestigious Sierra Surf Music Camp. He now plays with the Surftones and High Tides. Last, but not least, we are joined by Bobby Cochran, whose uncle was legend Eddie Cochran. Bobby is a session musician and master of many styles. Besides playing surf music, he has been the guitarist for Steppenwolf and The Flying Burrito Bros.
