August 13 – The Fullness of Following Jesus
from The Daily Word · host LakeshoreCF
In today’s episode, Pastor Jenny Dirmann shares a devotion from John 15, where Jesus describes Himself as the true vine and calls His followers to remain in Him. Central to this passage is Jesus’ command to love one another, but Pastor Jenny reminds listeners that following Jesus cannot be reduced to love separated from everything else He taught. Jesus says that remaining in His love includes obeying His commandments—all of His commandments, not simply the ones we find easiest or most culturally acceptable. To truly follow Jesus means receiving the whole counsel of Scripture and allowing His Word to define what faithful obedience and genuine love look like. Jesus also warns that living according to His ways will sometimes bring opposition from a world that rejected Him first, so resistance does not necessarily mean we have failed to love well. Thankfully, Jesus does not leave His followers to navigate this alone. He gives us the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, who reveals Christ to us and empowers us to testify faithfully about Him. As followers of Jesus, we are called to embrace and proclaim the fullness of the gospel, walking in His commands and boldly helping others do the same.Today's Reading:August 13 – Ezekiel 1–3; John 15
