AUGUST 18: Delaware County Murder Investigation, Red Cross Helps Flood Victims, and Navigating Mortgage Rates

(1:40-4:20) Two Shootings in North Central Columbus A drive-by shooting happened early Monday afternoon following a funeral service on Woodward Avenue. Two people were shot and are expected to survive. Then just after 10:30 Monday night, another shooting happened about three miles away on Gibbard Avenue and sent two women to the hospital and a Columbus Police Officer fired their weapon. Are the two shootings connected? We've asked police.  (4:21-8:13) Building Explosion and Fire in Toledo Around 5a.m. Tuesday, two explosions rocked a commercial laundry facility in south Toledo. It caused a massive fire. While no fatalities have been confirmed, two employees were still unaccounted for at the time of this recording.  (8:28-18:19) Navigating Mortgage Rates and Homebuying Mortgage rates fell slightly for the first time in six months earlier this month to an average of 6.67%. Red Cross volunteers will continue assisting families in need even after the shelters close at some future point. (24:48-36:27) Columbus Participatory Budget As part of OneProject Columbus, different districts of the city are tasked with spending $1 million in city money for projects that will benefit the people living there. Community for New Direction CEO John Dawson joins the conversation to talk about the wants of District 7, which covers most of downtown, Franklinton, the near east side, and Southern Orchards. So far, the requests have been for more green spaces. There's another meeting to give opinions Wednesday evening.  (36:42-45:24) Delaware County Homicide Three people, including the 18-year-old daughter of the victim, face murder charges in the death of 55-year-old Tamela Dutcher last week in Delaware County. 10TV's Kevin Landers breaks down the case and how it continues to unfold as more information comes out.
