August 20, Arrivals and Questions

August 20, Episode 2. An exploration of the arrivals and questions of August 20, through two stories of journeying into the unknown. In one Salman Haider leaves his family and his country to search for freedom and independence. A search made more difficult by the fact that at age seventeen Salman has never once walked out of his door alone before. In the other the first African-Americans also find themselves leaving their homes and their families, however, their journey will rob them of their freedom and independence forever. Our stories are separated by four hundred years, but the greatest thing that separates them is story telling itself. We will never truly know the stories of those first African-Americans, but We have Salman’s story in his own words. Stories of pirate ships, disability and death marches, all connected by August 20.
