Markets started the week on a cautious note and ended lower after failing to sustain the early gains, as concerns over fresh US sanctions on Iran and elevated crude oil prices weighed on sentiment. After opening above the 24,300 mark, the Nifty gradually slipped into negative territory and fell below 24,150 during the session before recovering modestly from the lows. It eventually settled at 24,219.05, down 0.14%, while the Sensex closed at 77,369.11, lower by 0.22%.
