August 5 – Following God's Timing

In today’s episode, Pastor Jenny Dirmann shares a devotion from John 7:1–10, where Jesus refuses His brothers’ suggestion to publicly attend the Feast of Booths, explaining that His time had not yet come. Although those around Him encouraged Him to seize the opportunity and make Himself known, Jesus was not driven by public recognition or personal ambition. Instead, He remained completely surrendered to the Father’s timing and direction. Pastor Jenny reminds listeners that this passage offers two important lessons. First, we should exercise wisdom by avoiding situations that we know will lead us into harm or temptation. Second, we must be careful not to mistake good opportunities for God’s opportunities. Even when others encourage us to pursue something that appears worthwhile, our decisions should be guided by the Lord rather than by pressure, ambition, or the desire for recognition. Like Jesus, we are called to stay in step with the Father's voice, trusting His timing above our own.
