AUGUST 6 - Living with Purpose3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 21:9–10; Psalm 90; 1 Timothy 5–6//3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon//________________________________________“It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a quarrelsome wife. The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.” — Proverbs 21:9–10 (ESV)“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” — Psalm 90:17 (ESV)“But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.” — 1 Timothy 6:11 (ESV)________________________________________Life can sometimes feel like one long list of things to do—schoolwork, sports, friendships, responsibilities at home. But deep down, most of us want to know that our lives actually matter. Psalm 90 points us to the only place where real meaning comes from: God’s presence and favor. When He establishes the “work of our hands,” even ordinary tasks become part of His greater purpose. But purpose isn’t automatic. Proverbs 21 warns us about selfishness, conflict, and the kind of living that pulls us away from peace and joy. And in 1 Timothy 6, Paul tells believers to actively chase after things that last—righteousness, faith, love, and gentleness—instead of getting trapped by drama or empty goals.Living with purpose means turning away from distractions that steal our peace and focusing on the things God says truly matter. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about choosing, every day, to make your life count for Him.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Check Your Direction: What are you chasing right now—temporary stuff like popularity or things that build real character like faith and love (1 Timothy 6:11)?2. Peace over Drama: How can you bring peace to your relationships instead of conflict (Proverbs 21:9–10)?3. Purpose in the Everyday: What would it look like for you to invite God to “establish the work of your hands” (Psalm 90:17) in school, sports, or friendships?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEA meaningful life comes from chasing God’s purpose, choosing peace, and living out faith and love every day.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for giving my life meaning and purpose. Help me to turn away from distractions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. Teach me to honor You in the small things so my life reflects Your heart in big ways too. Establish the work of my hands and guide me to live for what really matters. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
