AUGUST 7 - Learning the Right Way3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 21:11–12; 2 Timothy 1–2//3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon//________________________________________“When a scoffer is punished, the simple becomes wise; when a wise man is instructed, he gains knowledge. The Righteous One observes the house of the wicked; he throws the wicked down to ruin.” — Proverbs 21:11–12 (ESV)“Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.” — 2 Timothy 1:13 (ESV)“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” — 2 Timothy 2:15 (ESV)________________________________________Have you ever watched someone make a big mistake and thought, “I’m never doing that”? Life gives us examples—some to follow, some to avoid. Proverbs 21 says wise people learn from correction and instruction instead of waiting to crash and burn before they change. Paul, in 2 Timothy 1–2, encourages believers to follow sound teaching and live in a way that honors God. He reminds us that we need to work hard to understand and apply God’s Word the right way—not carelessly or halfway. It’s easy to go with the flow, especially when everyone else seems fine doing their own thing. But God calls us to learn from the Bible, from mentors, and even from the mistakes of others so we can grow in wisdom without repeating the same mess-ups. Being teachable now sets you up for strength and faithfulness later.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Learn from Others: Are there mistakes you’ve seen in others that could teach you what to avoid (Proverbs 21:11–12)? How can you be wise enough to learn without repeating them?2. Hold On to Truth: Paul says to “follow the pattern of sound words” (2 Timothy 1:13). What truths from the Bible do you need to hold onto when life feels confusing?3. Do Your Best for God: How can you “rightly handle the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15) in school, friendships, or tough decisions this week?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEWisdom grows when you learn from God’s Word, listen to instruction, and let both guide your choices every day.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for giving me Your Word and people in my life who can teach me wisdom. Help me to stay humble, learn from others, and hold tightly to Your truth. Teach me to live in a way that honors You and shows wisdom in my choices. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
