August Sandberg // ISBJØRN Refit

from On the Wind Sailing · host 59º North Sailing

August Sandberg is the owner and skipper of our beloved Swan 48 ISBJØRN, which has sailed over 60,000 miles since the beginning of 59º North. August lives outside Bergen, Norway, where the boat is now based, and recently finished overseeing a second major refit, which we had done at Vindö Marin on the west coast of Sweden on the famed boatbuilding island of Orust. I caught up with August to talk to him about what went into the refit, discuss some of the bigger projects and ask him what he's most excited about for the 2024 season. -- If you liked this conversation you'll LOVE The QUARTERDECK, 59 North's 'deep dives on the art of seamanship.' Join our interactive community and get involved in the conversation at quarterdeck.59-north.com. First two weeks FREE, then multiple pricing options thereafter.  -- ON THE WIND is presented by Forbes Horton Yachts. Get in touch with Forbes today about buying or selling a boat. The show is also presented by Harborburn Cannon Company, creators of solid, marine-grade bronze, black-powder signal cannons — just like the ones from the age of sail but a bit smaller. If you own a boat, you need a cannon! To find out more, go to harborburn.com.
