Augustus and the Altar of Fortuna: A Bloody Prophecy

In this episode of Fexingo History, Lucas and Luna explore the dark side of Augustus's rise to power through the story of the Altar of Fortuna at Praeneste. They unravel the prophecy of the goddess Fortuna Primigenia, which foretold the deaths of Augustus's heirs, and the shadowy role of the haruspices in imperial politics. The conversation winds through the mysterious childless death of Marcellus, the political maneuvering of Livia, and the eerie omens that accompanied Augustus's reign. Along the way, they touch on the Temple of Apollo Palatinus, the cult of Fortuna, and the Augustan manipulation of divine signs. A brief aside on listener support keeps the tone intimate, then they return to the central tension: how a princeps who claimed to restore the Republic was also the master of fate. #Augustus #FortunaPrimigenia #Praeneste #Marcellus #Livia #RomanReligion #Haruspices #Augury #Prophecy #ImperialCult #RomanHistory #ResGestae #TempleOfApollo #Omen #Princeps #FexingoHistory #History #AncientRome Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
