Paul and Glenn are back for another action-packed and entertaining episode. This week in the lead-up to Australia Day on January 26, we discuss the relationship of sport and our National Day. Some of what will be discussed include: - Australia Day awards and events that take place e.g., outdoor concerts, BBQ’s. - The controversy surrounding the day and protesting from many Indigenous Australians. - What the day is all about i.e., embrace cultural diversity, embrace the wonderful country we live in, time with friends and family. - Australia Day activities e.g., backyard cricket and games in the park such as thong throwing, egg and spoon races. - The Australian Open tennis and its culmination on the Australia Day long-weekend with the semi-finals and finals. - The great success of the Australian Open and how it has developed and grown over the years. - Controversial decisions made in regard to sport on Australia Day e.g., no First-Class cricket. - A famous boat race that takes place on Sydney Harbour every Australia Day that involves a major form of transport in the city - The Bicentenary Celebrations in 1988 and the fond memories.
