Australian universities in crisis and how they could be re-directed

from Think Again · host Jennifer with Marie Brennan

Marie Brennan has been Professor at several universities  and has researched and written about the dire changes in our university system since the 90s. She outlines the moves to a more commercialised, top-down management model, in which academic staff have less say, and many have become demoralised and burnt out. This is a gender equity issue, as many of the casual staff left carrying the load are women. The quality of the education being provided by our universities has been greatly diminished in the process of all the economic rationalist restructuring over the last few decades. On a positive note, Marie shares her ideas about how universities could be re-directed. Action on the Yes voteApologies for the 'minute of silence' when Jennifer spoke about the Walk on Sunday, 17th of September, 12:00 at the State Library in Melbourne. This is to support a Yes vote for the referendum in October to have an Aboriginal advisory group to parliament.More details can be found here: https://www.yes23.com.au/walk_for_yes
