AUTISM Black And White Thinking (Emotions)

from Aspergers and Autism Podcast [The Aspie World] · host Aspergers and Autism Talk

Autism and thinking in black-and-white comes hand-in-hand. Here, l discuss the issue with not being able to communicate emotions. People on the autism spectrum have a difficulty with connecting to and relating their emotional issues to the outside world. The thinking process of not being able to see the grey area in thought process and only seeing in black-and-white causes some distress and emotional distress at times. I for one have experienced this first-hand issue with not being able to communicate my emotions and only seeing in black or white. That being said I do believe that restricted thinking of emotional communication like thinking in only black-and-white can help with some critical decision-making and can be a good thing at certain times.
