AV on Health: Breaking the Cycle of Domestic Violence

Domestic violence, or DV, is a pattern of behaviors directed at achieving and maintaining power and control over an intimate partner. It rears its ugly head in the form of physical violence, emotional abuse, economic abuse, isolation of the victim, intimidation and threats. It knows no color or socio-economic circumstance. Yet African American women experience DV at a rate 35% higher than their white counterparts and are less likely to seek help.
