Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States. Statistics show that in 2009, close to 300,000 women died from cardiovascular disease- that's 1 in every 4 women. For African American women, the risk is even higher. Doctors site genetics, diet, and socioeconomic factors as some of the reasons.
