Avila Shines in Royals' Sweep Bid | Kansas City Royals News

Luinder Avila dazzled in his first quality start, tossing six innings with a career-high seven strikeouts and a blazing fastball, helping the Royals snap a two-game losing streak against the Giants. The offense chipped in with key hits, including a solo homer from Carter Jensen and a clutch RBI from Nick Loftin, while Alex Lange locked down the save. Manager Matt Quatraro praised Avila’s command and execution, while Avila credited his coaching staff. Despite the win, concerns linger as star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. continues to miss games with back tightness — the Royals now face the Giants again Wednesday afternoon.
