Avos 3:9 - Interrupting Torah for a Tree
from Machshavah Lab · host Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss
Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! This evening (12/29/22), in our Thursday Night Pirkei Avos shiur, we began by updating our theory on the purpose and intended audience of Pirkei Avos, in light of an observation made by Moshe Halbertal. Next, we tackled yet another short but practical mishnah about one's relationship with learning. We learned this mishnah according to Meiri, Abravanel, and Rabbeinu Yonah, managing to answer all our questions. We concluded by fleshing out the practical, contemporary applications of what we learned.-----מקורות:Moshe Halbertal, Maimonides: Life and Thought, pp. 148-149אבות ג:טמאיריאברבנאלרבינו יונהרש"י תלמוד בבלי שבת דף ל עמוד ברמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות יסודי התורה ב:ברמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר אהבה, הלכות תפילין ומזוזה וספר תורה י:יארמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר קרבנות, הלכות חגיגה ג:ורמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות תלמוד תורה ד:במשלי כח:טרשב"ץ-----This week's Torah content has been sponsored by Sarah in celebration of the marriage of Rivkie and Dovi Siderson.
