Awe not Fear

from Congregation Emanu-El Hosted by Congregation Emanu-El

Rabbi Jonathan Singer delivers a sermon at Emanu-El's One Shabbat Service on 4th of July weekend - 2020.07.03 "Our problems arise when we act out of fear - pachad - as Balak did, instead of being guided by a sense of awe or radical amazement as Herschel taught - realizing we exist surrounded by God’s presence. And when we do not guarantee freedom from fear of harm out of fears that are irrational or hateful we know we are not the America we need to be nor the Jews we need to be."
