Baby-Led Weaning - Everything you need to know

from Knowledge Nation Radio

Dr Gill Rapley is on the show to talk about Baby-Led Weaning – a great alternative way of weaning with a whole host of benefits.  Gill, who coined the term Baby-Led Weaning, has worked as a health visitor and midwife. She was taught to question accepted wisdom. She discovered that a lot of mothers were struggling to introduce their babies to solid foods. After raising 3 of her own children and trying baby-led weaning out on them, she realised that Baby-Led Weaning is a great way to wean babies. Without the stress of spoon-feeding. Gill has since completed a masters degree and also is the author of a number of books on the subject. I’m discussing the ins and outs of baby led weaning, why waiting until 6 months is important and also signs your baby is ready for weaning. Also on the show, mother of three Kiana Carrington-Roberts, who is currently doing Baby-Led Weaning with her 9 month old son but traditionally weaned her older two. I'll be asking Kiana how it compares to spoon-feeding.
