Baby steps and building blocks
from Poetry by Tim Windisch · host Tim Windisch
Baby Steps and Building blocks She tumbled backwards down the entryway stairs Each step she fell showed how much he cares Drove until there was no longer a familiar sight Not the way a woman deserves to end her night Don’t care, don’t call, don’t waste your time On sympathy to wipe up another drunken crime Wasted away without a chance to ever go back home Can’t stay tethered to yesterday, finally time to roam Cause tomorrow's holding open the door where it seems You can live out your days in a love you held in your dreams Don’t need excuses, there’s no need to explain, never mind the clocks Past is past, don’t fret, time stands still, baby steps and building blocks Your wheels won’t rust, baby let then come to a rest Come lay next to me and put your head on my chest If you want to run, let's do it together; but honey don’t run from this I knew from the moment my eyes locked with yours, sealed it with a kiss Things could have been better for you; I know life’s been rather unfair But this is coming from a man full of love, one who will always be there I can’t do anything about yesterday, except make tomorrow be so totally bright That it makes it impossible to see past the love that’s waiting here for you tonight Cause tomorrow's holding open the door where it seems You can live out your days in a love you held in your dreams Don’t need excuses, there’s no need to explain, never mind the clocks Past is past, don’t fret, time stands still, baby steps and building blocks Let’s build our future baby!
