Babylon 5- Some Parallels We Can Draw to the Situation We Are Currently In

from Queerly Popular · host Mychel Vandover

Welcome to today's episode of Queerly Popular! Today, we are having a special episode which will air on both Queer PoliFaith and Queerly Popular. We are talking about the 1993-1998 sci-fi series, Babylon 5. It was an awesome series, one of the best in my opinion, and very different from Star Trek, which was in its heyday during this time. I love both, but I believe that Babylon 5 is better. We start off with by placing Babylon 5 within the context of its time in relation to Star Trek and the various shows and movies that aired while Babylon 5 was on. I talk about the plot in general and spend most of the episode showing how it is relevant and parallels current events in the United States. Here are some scenes from the show I mentioned: Sinclair Shows Off Various Earth Belief Systems A Nightwatch Meeting (the relevant part starts at 1:00, if the link doesn't go there automatically) Delenn Defends Babylon 5 ISN Is Back On the Air Garibaldi Confronts Lochley Our next episode will be on April 24th and will be about the books The Darkness Outside Us & The Brightness Between Us.
