Protected by the Euphrates River and fortified by seemingly impenetrable defenses, Babylon believed it was untouchable.But Babylon made a fatal mistake.It measured the strength of its walls while ignoring the power of the God who stood against it. Jeremiah 51 is not simply about the destruction of an ancient empire. It is a warning to every person, nation, and culture that places confidence in human strength rather than God's sovereignty.The fortress fell not because it was weak, but because its greatest vulnerability was one it never imagined.And often, the same is true of us. [Jeremiah 5...of Babylon | Word]And yet none of those things could save it when God's judgment arrived.The same danger exists today.Your Babylon may not be a city.It may be a career.It may be money.It may be a relationship.It may be political power.It may be self-sufficiency.It may be a secret sin that has captured your heart.Three times in Jeremiah 51, God tells His people the same thing:"Come out of Babylon."This was not merely a command to change locations.It was a command to change allegiance.God's people were not meant to place their trust in Babylon's kingdom.They were called to trust God's Kingdom.The same call remains today.Every wall eventually falls.Every empire eventually crumbles.Every earthly kingdom has an expiration date.Only the Kingdom of Jesus Christ will stand forever.
