A 16‑year‑old babysitter smothered an infant girl, then left her lifeless body in a closet while she went to McDonald's with a friend. When police found the baby dead and wrapped in a bag in the closet of the girlfriend's apartment, the teenager laughed and played with her phone during the interrogation. For two years, the family had trusted her to care for their daughter. She claimed the baby had fallen off the sofa, but a medical examiner ruled the death a homicide by asphyxiation.
