Back Issue Banter #26: The Avengers / Defenders War (1973)

In 1973, writer Steve Englehart decided to crossover the two titles he was writing for Marvel, The Avengers and The Defenders for a summer-long epic that has come to be known as The Avengers / Defenders War! With artists Bob Brown (Avengers) and Sal Buscema (Defenders), Englehart scripted an epic tale that crossed galaxies and pitted  hero against hero against villains for the ultimate contest.  This was during a time when crossovers of this scale were not common and this story has gone on to become a legendary tale of Marvel's classic '70s era!
