BACK PAIN & ANXIETY

from ASK ME ANYTHING | CHI FLOW WITH JO · host Chi Flow with Jo | the Podcast

DO YOU SUFFER FROM BACK PAIN AND ANXIETY? Susan reached out to me saying that she had pain in the middle area of her back and also that she suffers from anxiety.  From my knowledge of Chinese medicine, it sounds to me like there was too much going on in her middle dantian. WHAT ARE THE THREE DANTIENS? In Chinese medicine we have 3 dantiens: Upper in the head, Middle in the centre of the chest and Lower in the lower belly which is your power source. These are our 3 major energy centres.  UPPER DANTIAN The upper dantian is connected with the mind. We don’t want to spend all our time and energy up here in the head because it is exhausting! Spending too much time here can be overwhelming and cause brain fog. The best way to bring your energy up to the mind is to visit it, connect with all of the mind, and then bring that down to the lower dantian. MIDDLE DANTIAN The middle dantian is connected to the heart. Spending too much time here in our chest can also be overwhelming. Always being open and empathetic, connecting with the heart, can be very draining. The best way to spend your energy in the middle dantian is to come up and visit the heart, connect, and return down to the lower dantian. LOWER DANTIAN The lower dantian is where we want to focus our energy and always return to. It has a lot to do with your sexual energy, your relationship to your lifeforce energy. Connect here and don’t be afraid to spend time in your lower belly around your sexual organs! If you put too much attention and stress on your upper and middle dantian, this could cause back pain and anxiety symptoms. Watch this episode of Ask Me Anything to see how I demonstrate some great points and qi gong moves that can help you relieve that tension in your middle dantian, and focus your energy down to the lower dantian.
