Back to school backpack campaign to support needy youth
from Kan English · host כאן | Kan
As the new school year opens, a new report from the Latet organization points to persistent socio-economic gaps that underscore the challenges for needy youth to thrive. According to the report, over half a million children are beginning the new school year in poverty. Two thirds of supported families reported their children lack basic school supplies and textbooks, while 84 percent could not finance extracurricular activities for their children. Latet Founder and President Gilles Darmon spoke to KAN reporter Naomi Segal about the report and the organization's emergency campaign to distribute fully equipped backpacks (Photo: Illustrative.
