Welcome to the Tweet Trends podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I mean that's pay girl and you are tuned in to Tweet Trends. It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today.
It's back to school time. Let's get started. Yes, I cannot believe that this is already mid to late August and it's time for kids to start going back to school. Now let me start by telling you my favorite back to school campaign ad campaign was Target's most wonderful time of the year.
That by far was the most clever campaign as far as I'm concerned because you've got these parents dancing in the aisles buying their kids their back to school supplies and the kids are dragging but the store like oh my gosh I am not ready. Just no not ready mom and dad not ready and they're like who get these kids back to school. But the crazy thing is nowadays we do not have that particular type of attitude because one parents are at each other's throats and it all revolves around COVID. You know I always say all roads lead to COVID.
And once again we are back at it. Summer is about over for some for some people is already over because certain parts of the country the students have already gone back to school. I just happen to be lucky enough to live in one of those areas that we don't go back until after Labor Day. So the cool thing for us is we get to see what everybody else is doing wrong and we can fix that before our school year starts.
You know don't hate the player hate the game. Somebody's got to go back first. I'm just glad it's not us. So these parents they are a true trip.
Okay if you haven't seen footage from a school board meeting from just about anywhere around the country you might want to look it up and see for yourself some of the nonsense and shenanigans that are taking place because parents are going there and acting a straight donkey because they want to be the ones to determine whether or not their child wears a mask. So picture this you've got a classroom now most of these classes are oversized right so you've got a classroom of let's say 25 elementary school kids and let's say about 12 of them's parents are like nope my child will not wear a mask. So you've got 12 without 13 with what do you do with that they're all in the same classroom they're all breathing the same air and it's been explained from the jump that when I wear a mask I protect you when you wear your mask you protect me. Why can't we protect each other?
Why is it that I got to protect you but you are like no but I'm no no no. Where do they do that? On what planet does that make any sense? I have no idea but if there is one they need to go there because especially for the fact that the majority of elementary school children don't even qualify to get a vaccine.
But little kids have vaccines then I might be able to go with you on that and be like you know what maybe we can lighten it up a little bit but no they are not protected period and you've been seeing stuff on the news about the different children's hospitals that they have seen a huge uptick in children with covid. Why? Well because people are getting buck wild right about now they're not wearing masks they're not requiring their children to wear a mask and they're just going everywhere and doing everything they are doing the most right about now out there in the streets and I'm not for it I don't understand why we cannot think sensibly you know all it takes is for that person to then experience some type of traumatic experience where something happens to their kid they end up in the hospital and then all of a sudden it's a reality and now I can empathize with everybody who wanted to wear a mask but until that point until I know somebody I shouldn't have to know somebody though right? It shouldn't have to be that close to me for me to say you know what this is a good idea for now trouble don't last always these masks will go away at some point in time but this is not the time or the place so let's just chill out with this whole argument back and forth about I should be able to determine if my child wears a mask or not no you shouldn't because then you making that decision about your child you're also making a decision about my child so you know what if y'all non-mask wearing people want to do something how about go and start your own school start no mask academy and let all the children without masks and they don't want to wear a mask and parents that feel some type of way about a mask let all y'all go to that school you know as for me and my house we will wear our mask.
Okay so one more thing about these school board meetings on the news yesterday I saw a clip from a school board meeting where the lady on the board was saying that they know that when school opens back up that there will be outbreaks of covid. Excuse me? So you're aware of this you know and understand that by bringing the kids back we are putting them in danger right but instead of trying to keep that from happening it seems to me that they were more on along the lines of saying so when it happens this is what we're going to do you know what that don't cut it for me I am so sorry. So in my mind if we know if I can see down the road and see that there is trouble down the road don't I try to avoid the trouble instead I feel like they're saying when we get to the trouble we know how to get through it.
Why not why not avoid it all together? Why not come up with ways and means that we don't have to deal with outbreaks like that you know that makes no sense to me. And then the other thing up here is they're doing research trying to figure out if they can mandate the vaccination for teachers can they make it mandatory for teachers to be vaccinated before they come back into the classroom. Well I'm thinking you're day late in the dollar short if you're just talking about this now because you have to wait a period of time before you get your second shot unless everybody's getting Johnson and Johnson and with that we're a little too close to the start of school year to go through that.
So how does that work or for the places where school's already started? Hello what are we thinking here guys what are we thinking what was going on throughout the entire summer was everybody just sitting there with their fingers crossing we hope that this thing goes away by the time school starts so we don't even have to think or worry about this there should have been things already being planned put in place worked out throughout this time period to make sure that this time that we have reached now that we have plans in place to prevent the children from getting sick not to deal with that when everybody gets sick come on guys. Alright y'all that was today's episode of Tweech trends and I apologize if you're like you know you are literally emotional in this episode because I was because I've got skin in the game you know when you have a child in the school system and the school system is doing wonky-dongy stuff then it just makes you kind of feel a little donkeyish you know and that's where I am right now I'm not understanding why people can't understand that we shouldn't be putting our children in harm's way like this and you know I can't protect everybody's children there's some parents out there that feel like they do and you know that's fine and dandy but it's like I want to protect their kids too like I don't know we might have to revisit this y'all because this is a lot this is a lot so we'll keep our eyes and ears open to see how things go as far as the schools that have already opened back up what happens there and then places like here where we don't start to after Labor Day hopefully we'll get it together and realize okay let's learn from their mistakes and do better so if you have any information about any of this stuff is if there's anything that you want to talk about in regards to school and COVID and children and how we can all just get along then please by all means hit me up on Twitter Instagram Facebook YouTube at hei-vet that's at hei-d-e-t-e or simply just look for the hashtag tweet trends all right have a great Thursday have an awesome weekend and I will see you guys back here again on Tuesday.
