Backup QB Battle at Georgia Heats Up | Georgia Bulldogs Football News

The backup quarterback race at Georgia is heating up as Gunner Stockton locks down the starting role, leaving Ryan Puglisi and Ryan Montgomery in a fierce battle for the No. 2 spot. Coach Kirby Smart says it’s far from decided, with both players getting crucial reps in high-pressure game situations — though neither shined in recent open practices. Puglisi threw three interceptions in a closed scrimmage, while Montgomery led his unit to two touchdown drives. With Hezekiah Millender flashing potential and freshman Bryson Beaver on the rise, Smart is keeping things fluid, limiting Stockton’s reps to give others a shot. As Georgia gears up for their season opener against Tennessee State, fans will have to wait and see who emerges as the true No. 2.
