Badboy

Some records are built for the sunshine. Dark Discipline is built for the hours after midnight. Dreadnaught makes his debut on Serial Killaz Recordings with a five-track EP that plunges headfirst into the murkier corners of drum & bass, delivering a heavyweight blend of dirty rollers, grimy jump-up pressure and stripped-back underground menace. Across the release, he trades polished surfaces for raw impact, constructing a world of cavernous basslines, snapping drums and shadowy atmospherics that feel tailor-made for sweatbox raves and smoke-filled dancefloors. There's a sense of restraint running through Dark Discipline. Rather than chasing cheap gimmicks or overblown theatrics, Dreadnaught focuses on groove, tension and low-end weight, allowing each track to breathe while maintaining an unwavering sense of momentum. The result is a collection that hits hard without sacrificing depth, drawing equally from classic jump-up attitude and the darker, more disciplined edge of contemporary rolling drum & bass. Adding another layer to the EP is Shapeshifters, a collaboration with fellow D&B producer Total Recall. The pairing proves a natural fit, combining both artists' taste for heavyweight bass pressure and razor-sharp dancefloor dynamics, while staying firmly aligned with the EP's dark and uncompromising aesthetic. From start to finish, Dark Discipline feels like a statement of intent. Unapologetically underground and engineered for maximum impact on a big system, it's a reminder that some of the most powerful drum & bass doesn't shout for attention, it simply locks into the groove and refuses to let go.
