Badgers OL Crisis Deepens | Wisconsin Badgers Football News

Wisconsin’s offensive line is facing early camp turbulence as two key starters—guard Emerson Mandell (out since spring foot surgery) and top NFL prospect tackle Kevin Heywood (injured last Friday)—are sidelined. While Heywood’s injury looks less severe, his “day-to-day” status keeps fans on edge; he’s still seen around the team and leading from the sidelines. In his absence, Florida State transfer Lucas Simmons-Johansson steps in at right tackle, anchoring a projected starting lineup that includes Wilkins, Cubberly, Kawecki, Cherry, and Simmons-Johansson. Though losing Heywood would be a major blow, Wisconsin’s depth this year offers some cushion—and with camp just beginning, there’s still time for things to shake out.
