Badgers QB Battle Heats Up | Wisconsin Badgers Football News

The Wisconsin Badgers are in a fierce quarterback battle between experienced Louisville transfer Deuce Adams and rising true freshman Ryan Hopkins, both vying for the No. 2 spot behind starter Colton Joseph. With head coach Luke Fickell hinting they may never officially name a backup, both players are getting equal reps to stay ready — a strategy that prioritizes depth and development over hierarchy. Hopkins’ unexpected breakout has earned him serious trust, while Adams brings valuable experience as a safety net. The depth chart will likely show “Adams OR Hopkins” for now, with the competition possibly lasting into the regular season — a smart, high-stakes gamble for a team hoping to avoid backup reliance but building a stronger future.
