Baggage Pt. 4 - Baggage Free

  (John 8:44) (NLT) “For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.”   How do I stay free?    Title of the message: Baggage Free    (Luke 11:24-26)  “When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, searching for rest. But when it finds none, it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ So it returns and finds that its former home is all swept and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before.”  Bondage Cycle    Freedom.  Prosperity.  Bondage.    (Galatians 5:1)  “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”    Secrets of staying baggage free:    1.  Humility.   (Proverbs 16:18) (NLT) “Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.” (1 Peter 5:6)  “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”   (Psalm 51:1-2, 17)  “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.  Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin…The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” 2.  Honesty.   (1 John 1:9-10)  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.”   (James 5:16)  “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”   3.  Holy Spirit.   (Romans 8:9)  “You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you.”   (2 Corinthians 3:17)  “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”   (Psalm 16:11)  “You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
