En el episodio n.º 36 de TODO COMENZÓ AYER, el podcast divulgativo de la Asociación Española de Historia Económica, entrevistamos a Jesús Mirás Araujo con motivo de la publicación de su libro, editado Junto a Isabel Bartolomé Rodríguez y Mercedes Fernández-Paradas, sobre los mercados regionales de la industria gasista española entre los siglos XIX y XX. Jesús nos explica la nueva perspectiva qué aporta esta obra colectiva, en la que intervienen, además de ellos, catorce especialistas, con una perspectiva regional comparada, que muy pocas veces había abordado la historiografía española. Así, desgrana cuáles son las principales lecciones históricas que se pueden extraer de esta comparación entre las regiones españolas que implantaron el gas o el papel de los empresarios en el devenir de la industria gasista. Empresarios no sólo nacionales, sino sobre todo, extranjeros. Por otro lado, Jesús analiza con mucho detenimiento la pugna entre la electricidad y el gas como fuentes de energía en España, concretando cuáles fueron las estrategias de la empresas gasistas para sobrevivir y el nicho de mercado en el que acabarían triunfando. Jesús es especialista en Historia urbana, Historia empresarial, Historia industrial, Historia económica regional, Historia de los servicios públicos e infraestructuras en red (gas, electricidad, agua y transporte), Historia portuaria y marítima. Ha participado en numerosos proyectos de investigación y convenios con empresas, autor de artículos y capítulos de libros relacionados con estas líneas de investigación y coeditor de Globalización, nacionalización y liberalización de la industria del gas en la Europa latina (siglos XIX-XX) y Cercanas pero distintas. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile.
