Thought he was a first rd pick- thought he would go 25-30. “Geat players fall down the board- so they had to take him” (Decosta said Ozzy told him this) Round 3 (71): DI Justin Madubuike, Texas A&M Good environment to bringa  oung guy in- have a bunch of vets in those room coaches in that room are good at getting player (mentioned williams, campbell, wolfe) Got to qb alot- pressure, hits. Explosive- quick twitchy, heavy handed guy- cn leverage blocks Works edges well. Doesnt gt moved alot. Round 3 (92): WR Devin Duvernay, Texas. “Excited- worried NE was gonna tak him. Favorite of Decosta Competitive spirit- tought physical, catches the ball very well- almost like a RB with the football. Round 3 (98): LB Malik Harrison, Ohio State. Round 3 (106): IOL Tyre Phillips, Mississippi State SB- move inside to guard-plyed both at sb- can transition- gotta get to work and compete for position.. Round 4 (143): IOL Ben Bredeson, Michigan Bro/dad txted him- told youll love this guy- no nonsense, all football- mom dogshows DI Broderick Washington, Texas Tech Round 6 (201): WR James Proche, SMU Trades up for him, senior bowl- excellent hands- can play inside “crafty- competitive with football Round 7 (219): S Geno Stone, Iowa- Good processor- field safety rolled up into box- good oicking up routes. Shows feel for qb- id run actuon quxkly- Good feel for whats happening in front of him. Forced to just watch the tape- old school throw back draft- Easy to get prepare for this draft- just sat in front of machines. Key Moves predraft Traded  for Calais Campbel for a 5th, Away hayden hurst for a 2nd Signed Derrick Wolfe, Were rumoured to be attached to Michael Brockers. Resigned Jimmy smith, HAve Marlon Humphrey, Resigned Marcus Peters, Tagged Matt Judon, Matt Skurra - Original round tender. Marshal anda retirement. WASHINGTON REDSKINSRound 1 (2): EDGE Chase Young, Ohio State-(RR) - making change to a 4-3 front. Causes immediate disrutpion (1 of 3 big impact guys in this draft). Got an extra 15 minutes with him at combine- (KS) - how people around of the school talk about him, coach Meyer raved about him. Continue to grow & mature. Perfectionist, self starter “wired” right way. Round 3 (66): RB Antonio Gibson, Memphis- Swiss army knife- good hands 228 lbs- plays fast runs fast (Kyle Smith). Coach Turner interest in using him with the other RBs Can use him in conjunction with other RBs Good cluster of players willing to take at the spot Match up weapon. Round 4 (108): OT Saahdiq Charles, LSU Suspension- made a mistake. Made mistakes in past at LSU (KS) Dived in- Was in fourth round for a reason, Feel confident in the kid- excited. Understand why he was taken where he was Round 4 (142): WR Antonio Gandy-Golden, Liberty Good play speed- can work the middle. Physical blocker, STs value Round 5 (156): IOL Keith Ismael, San Diego State. G/C versatile Round 5 (162): LB Khaleke Hudson, Michigan. Can play in spaceRound 7 (216): S Kamren Curl, Arkansas Safety but started at cornerRound 7 (229): Edge James Smith-Williams, NC State- Can play 3 tech as well. Traded away Trent Williams for a 5th rder and a 3rd next year. Rivera did disclose that earlier this year they were offered the equivilent of first round compensation. Relieved its over (unique situation- layers). RR- “sustainable winning culture”. Attitude- build the culture wit people who want to be here. Opp. to start clean/fresh. UDFA- Thad Moss- Injury related- Productive- good hands, ball skills. Multiple position versatility important- Starting over- every opportunity to play is there- Tryign to get guys on field as much as possible.
