Bánh mì!

Bánh mì is a Vietnamese sandwich, incredibly popular in restaurants across the world. While the bánh mì is a very recognizably Vietnamese dish, its history is less straightforward than one may think. The influence of French colonialism in the region impacted everything from clothing to class to food. After Vietnam officially became independent, they took the French baguette and filled it with Vietnamese ingredients, creating the bánh mì, the ultimate symbol of rebellion and freedom from French rule.
